Cause, Category, and Command: An Introduction to Kant’s 1st and 2nd Critiques
Adam C. Jones, PhD | 4-week seminar | ~8 hours
Following the problem of causality from Hume’s skepticism through the Critique of Pure Reason to the “causality of freedom” in the Critique of Practical Reason, this course offers a structured introduction to how Kant links knowledge to moral autonomy.
Acid Communism: A World Which Could Be Free
Emma Stamm, PhD | 4-week seminar | ~9 hours
Picking up Mark Fisher’s unfinished project, this seminar asks how aesthetic experience once fueled political imagination, and how capitalist realism neutralized it. Through nostalgia, weird fiction, algorithmic culture, and psychedelic consciousness-raising, it considers what futures become possible when we interrogate the pasts we cling to.
Jung and Spinoza: God, Affect, Destiny
Robert H. Langan, PhD | 4-week seminar | ~8 hours
Exploring the shared ground between Jung’s psychology and Spinoza’s philosophy, this course examines their parallel views of God, affective knowledge, and the path from sorrow to joy, which Jung calls individuation and Spinoza calls blessedness.
